Kyle Sandilands: An Overgrown Brat
Written by Queen Bee 05 Oct 2009

Kyle Sandilands is one of Australia's most obnoxious celebrities, and why he is even afforded such a high profile is beyond me.

Kyle has come a long way from his teenage years as an "alleged" part-time street kid after his mother and stepfather kicked him out of home for bad behavior, but his spoilt brat mentality has not changed in the slightest. Well, apart from an over-inflated ego.

Kyle claims to have been given his first radio job as a result of submitting a false resume.

Since then he has become part of one of Australia's most prominent radio duos, together with Jackie O.

Kyle's career has proven that a mix of controversy, love, hate, stupidity, violence, and a lack of emotion and empathy, are a good recipe for an inflated ego.

While in 2006, Sandilands was named the most hated Australian identity in a Zoo Weekly article, prominent television shows still chose to dump their original hosts in favour of Kyle in hopes of "boosting their ratings".

This is what gets me, if Kyle is Australia's most hated identity, then how does he have any hope of increasing ratings?

Yeah, that is what I thought - Big Brother ratings in 2008 reached their lowest ever while at the reins of Kyle and Jackie O.

Kyle is very good at dishing out the dirt, but no so good at receiving it. In 2006 when a fellow Australian comedian labelled Kyle as a "dickhead", Kyle retorted by provlaiming that he would "punch him in the throat" when he saw him next. I do not know why Kyle did not face any kind of criminal charges for making such a violent threat on national television.

Kyle reached an all-time low this year when he was involved in a highly unethical event involving a 14 year old girl, her mother, a lie detector, and a streaming radio feed.

The mother of the girl had brought her onto Kyle and Jackie O's show to hook her up to the lie detector and question her about her sex life.

The girl was scared and upset, to which Sandilands addressed the listening audience, "She is scared everyone. Yeah."

When the girl was asked about her previous sexual experiences, while streming live to a national audience, she claimed that she had been raped at the age of 12 and that her mother knew about it and did not believe her.

Kyle then, unphased by the revelations made by the girl, asked her, "Right ... is that the only experience you've had?".

The incident caused national public outburst, as well as many prominent organisations ceasing their sponsorship of the radio show. The outburst caused the show to be taken off air, although it was not long before Kyle and Jackie O found themselves back gracing the airwaves.

A normal person would have learnt from this close call, right? Not Kyle.

A few weeks later Kyle was again causing a stir when he made references to Magda Szubanski's recent weight loss with Jenny Craig, claiming that she was still fat, stating, "You put her in a concentration camp and you watch the weight fall off... like, she could be skinny".

Just wondering, but, has Kyle actually looked in the mirror lately?

This insensitive slur was again cause for a public outburst, with Jewish groups coming forth and calling for his sacking.

But teflon Kyle again remained untarnished, dodging his second bullet within a few weeks, and keeping his job.

So how does someone with such a huge ego, arrogant and thoughtless personality, whose behaviour is unnacceptable from the average person, keep getting away with outrageous acts, and not only that, but benefitting from it, too?

As Molly Meldrum said of Kyle, he is "arrogant", "fat", and "talentless". And as Australia's most hated identity, why is he still here? What is his trick?

When Kyle replied I dont believe he sounded "unphased", to me he actually sounded shocked and confused about what he should do next. I dont think he is to blame for the incident, it was unfortunate for all involved.

I think if you dont like Kyle, dont listen to his show.

I really don't understand the concept behind shock jocks and why society accepts them at all. I think they are pathetic try-hards.
